Our story

It started with Zack.

Kurt and Brenda Warner knew firsthand the questions families face as a child with a disability grows into adulthood.

Zack’s story

Their oldest son, Zack, experienced a traumatic brain injury as a child. As he grew up, they saw both what he was capable of and how few places were built around the kind of adult life they wanted for him.

So they set out to create one.

Not an institution. Not simply somewhere to stay. A place where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities could have a home of their own, build relationships, contribute their talents and keep discovering what independence could look like for them.

That idea became Treasure House. It opened its doors in Glendale, Arizona in August 2018.

“These residents can put their stuff in their apartments and invite a friend over for a Coke; they can wake up and say, ‘I'm going to work’; they can say, ‘Do you want to dance tonight?’”
